Tokimeki no Houkago ~ Nee☆Quiz Shiyo♡~ (ときめきの放課後~ねっ☆クイズしよ♡~, lit. Tokimeki After School ~Hey☆Let's Quiz♡~) is a spin-off game of the original Tokimeki Memorial. It was released for PlayStation on July 16, 1998 (was labeled by PSOne Books on September 18, 2003) and the PlayStation Network on February 24, 2010 in Japan.
Gameplay[]
Tokimeki no Houkago is a spin-off reimagining Tokimeki Memorial as a quiz game. The gameplay focuses on raising parameters by answering quizzes with one of the characters, and answering correctly will raise your partner's evaluation level. Getting 5 questions wrong will set a bomb off, causing all characters' evaluation levels to drop. You can also ask your partner to answer questions for you if they have high evaluation of you[1], but every character has topics they're good at and bad at.[2]
A month will pass after each quiz, and you'll see a scene or event with the character you chose as your partner. The ultimate goal is to receive a confession of love (or achieve a happy ending) on the graduation day.
Every character can be selected as your partner from the get-go, and the secret characters from the original game, Rei Ijuin and Miharu Tatebayashi, have the same number of events as the other characters. Tokimeki no Houkago also features an ending for Yoshio Saotome, making this the first game in the series with the objective of aiming for a male character before Girl's Side. Every character except Yoshio has an alternate ending with a different hairstyle.
