Tokimeki Memorial: Taisen Tokkae-Dama (ときめきメモリアル対戦とっかえだま) is a puzzle game released for the PlayStation on June 19, 1997 and Sega Saturn on August 7, 1997 in Japan only. It is a Tokimeki Memorial-themed Taisen Tokkae-Dama spin-off game.

Gameplay[]

Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Tokka-Dama's gameplay is similar to its predecessor, Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Puzzle-Dama. The main difference is that the player has the freedom to move the spheres wherever he wants on his screen, making it easier to create long combos. As in Taisen Puzzle-Dama, the objective is to make combos by joining 3 or more spheres of the same color and attack the opponent, and the loser is whoever's screen is filled with spheres first.

The story mode has 3 difficulties: easy, medium and hard. Easy difficulty is limited to 3 matches, while medium and hard difficulties have a fixed 6 to 9 matches. It features a unique story for each girl and two endings. Similar to its predecessor, the player has the chance to retry the first few matches if they lose, but not the final one, which is linked to an ending. Upon reaching the good ending, the player is rewarded with a CG of the chosen girl. The bad ending involves Rei Ijuin (the fixed final opponent) getting in the way of whatever the girl was doing.

Additionally, each girl has three different outfits: her school uniform, a casual outfit, and a swimsuit. The player can choose between outfits in any mode other than the story mode.[1]

Unlockables[]

The secret characters, Miharu Tatebayashi and Rei Ijuin, can be temporarily unlocked with cheat codes, although Miharu can be permanently unlocked by beating the story on hard more with every girl at least once. Miharu has her own story mode, while Rei cannot be used in this mode.[1]
