Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Puzzle-Dama (ときめきメモリアル対戦ぱずるだま) is a puzzle game released for Arcade and published by Konami on December 1995 in Japan. It is a Tokimeki Memorial themed Taisen Puzzle-Dama spin-off game. After the Arcade, released for the PlayStation, Sega Saturn and PC Version on 1996. It was rereleased in Japan on the PlayStation Store on January 13, 2010. It is followed by its sequel Tokimeki Memorial 2 Taisen Puzzle-Dama and Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side Taisen Puzzle-Dama.

Gameplay[]

The objective of the game is to make combos with the colored spheres that fall through the screen and attack the opponent. The combos are made by joining 3 or more spheres of the same color, and attacks cause more spheres to appear on the opponent's side of the screen. Whoever's screen becomes filled with spheres loses.

There are two types of spheres: Oodama and Kodama. Oodama can be used to make combos, while Kodama need to be unlocked before they can be used; you can unlock Kodama by making combos next to them.

The story mode has three difficulties: easy, medium, and hard. In easy mode, the player is limited to only 3 matches in a row. The medium and hard modes have a plot and 9 matches in a row. The plot in general is that the girl is on her way to confess her love to the boy she likes, but ends up playing a brief game of Puzzle-Dama with the characters she meets on the way to the Legendary Tree. Yoshio Saotome, Rei Ijuin and Shiori Fujisaki are the last 3 fixed opponents (a mysterious koala will be your final opponent if you are playing as Shiori).

If they lose, the player is given the option to retry in the first 8 matches, but the final match is connected to an ending and cannot be repeated. In the good ending, the girl confesses her love to the protagonist, but in the bad ending, she watches Shiori (or the mysterious koala) confessing instead.

Unlockables[]

In the console versions, the player can unlock the secret characters, Rei Ijuin, Yoshio Saotome and Miharu Tatebayashi, as playable characters by beating the game on hard mode with every girl at least once. As for the arcade version, all 3 can be unlocked by inputting a cheat code.[1]
