Mina Yayoi (弥生 水奈 Yayoi Mina) is a character in Tokimeki Memorial Only Love.

Profile[]

Mina is a first-year student at class 1-C who is a member of the school's swimming team. She appeared first in the school library, Aoba helped her reach a book about dolphins. After Aoba agrees to become her coach, she falls in love with him. She is very nervous to confess her true feelings to him. Also because of her love of the sea life she quite reluctant to prepare food from the sea.

Appearance[]

Mina has Cerulean-colored hairs and eyes of burgundy color. She has a bangs which cover her forehead and frame her face, and reaches halfway down her back. She normally styles her hair in either two pony-tails or wears it straight down.

She wears the normal girl's uniform for Tsugmugino high school.

Personality[]

Mina is a quiet, timid and shy girl who loves everything related to dolphins. After placing well in the National swim meet she became more popular among her schoolmates but she was uncomfortable with the extra attention. She loves swimming, and tries to use it to boost her self confidence. Affter meeting Aoba she becomes more resilient and determined.

Biography[]

Mina met Riku Aoba in the school library, helping her reach a book about dolphins but she did not introduce herself. She manages to do so the second time they met near where her bicycle is parked, allowing him to use her handkerchief. She has a hard time trying to get Riku's mobile phone number because of her shyness, and the fact that she was always surrounded by people after finishing in the finals of the national swim meet. But because of Riku's initiative, she finally manages to receive it. Gradually, she grew a crush on him and did not dare to speak about her love for him. Just to get close to her, she once requests Riku to coach and improves on her swimming.

When Yukari Higashino proclaimed that she likes Riku and wants him to be her boyfriend, Mina, together with Tsukasa, decides to fight for him. During the Cultural Festival, she has never got a chance to spend time with him. During the period where Riku is having his school trip with his classmates, Mina attempt to use her mobile phone to send messages to communicate him. But because of Riku's carelessness, he never checks his phone. It ends up Mina waiting for his reply patiently which slowly become desperate and worried about Riku who never repay her. She gradually feels lonely as well since she has not heard let alone see him for days now. The amount of worry and loneliness finally cause her to have an emotional breakdown which even seeing her beloved dolphins in action could not help her at all. When Riku finally get his hands on his mobile phone, he is stunned by the number of messages sent by Mina and even more shocked when he heard a voice mail from her saying how much she feels lonely now and wants to see him. Riku feels responsible for her misery there and then. He tries to make it up for her by giving her a keychain with a dolphin pendant on it. Mina accepts it happily.

On New Year Day, Mina came to his house to accompany him and is joined by two other girls. On Valentine's Day, she manages to give her chocolates to him and when she hear about him being transferred out of their school soon, she is able to gather her courage and confess to him. She receives his answer at the shrine.

Koayu Utsumi is the captain of the School Swimming Team/Club and Mina's upperclassman.

Etymology[]

  • The name Mina means "water" (水) (mi) and "apple tree" (奈) (na).
  • Mina's surname Yayoi means "spring" (弥生).

Trivia[]

  • After getting to know Aoba more she asks him to call her by her first name (Mina), and later on she calls him by his first name too.
  • Her best friend is Momo Aikawa
  • Her dream is to go swimming in the ocean with dolphins, which she once dreamed of as a child.
  • Her swimming speciality is the backstroke.
