Plot[]

Exciting! A Sudden Trainee[]

(ドキ! 突然の実習生, Doki! Totsuzen no Jishuu-sei)

Yoshio Saotome and Yumi Saotome go to their first shrine visit of the year, and find Naoto Takami and Shiori Fujisaki. Yoshio comments on how Shiori’s kimono has an adult look to it, while Naoto calls Yumi’s cute, much to her disappointment. Yoshio explains how she was mistaken for a middle school student earlier, so she’s feeling self-conscious. He starts teasing her, which causes her to shoot a snowball at him, which he is able to dodge. Nozomi Kiyokawa joins the fight and hits him from the back. Aiming for her brother, Yumi accidentally hits a mysterious woman, and becomes impressed by her looks.

At Naoto's class, they find out the mysterious woman from before, Mina Makiguchi, will temporarily become their teacher for the third semester. The boys immediately become impressed by her looks. Shiori asks Naoto about his studies for the upcoming test, prompting him to confess he doesn’t have much confidence. She reassures him by saying she feels the same way and they should both do their best. Yoshio comments how it’s nice they’re going to the same university, to which Naoto replies Mio Kisaragi is also waiting for him, and that he can also make it in time.

Yumi asks Shiori why she doesn’t get mad at Naoto for being concerned with the new teacher, and Shiori explains it’s because she feels like she understands him better. Yumi concludes it is thanks to love.

Love? How Romance Starts[]

(ラブ? 恋の始め方, Rabu? Koi no Hajimekata)

Yoshio calls Naoto and Shiori in a panic, explaining that he saw Yumi writing a love letter the previous day. After hearing him insisting on how childish his sister is, they agree to look for Yumi. They find Yumi behind the school building, and Yoshio confronts her. The educational guidance teacher appears, and scolds her for troubling the third-years with a love letter.

Later, Yumi finds Nato and Shiori talking with Mina. She claims the teacher would understand her feelings, but Mina replies it’s too soon for Yumi to fall in love. Yumi explains that she heard a rumor that Mina found love at high school, which causes the teacher to leave abruptly.

Under the Legendary Tree, Yumi doesn’t notice Mina’s presence. Her classmate, Hiroshi, appears, and Yumi asks if he wants to go out with her. Naoto and the others appear, and Yumi announces she found a boyfriend, though Hiroshi adds he still hasn’t given her a response. Mina says she thinks Yumi’s feelings of just wanting to find a boyfriend aren’t really love. Once again, Yumi insists about the rumor she heard, but Mina slaps her, telling her to stop talking as if she knows her. Yumi says she doesn’t want to remain the only childish one and drags Hiroshi away.

How Disappointing! Is this the Taste of Love?[]

(ガッカリ! これが恋の味?, Gakkari! Kore ga Koi no Aji?)

Yumi takes Hiroshi to the rooftop in an attempt to create a romantic mood, but fails. Mina reflects about what Yumi told her, and meets with Nozomi, who notes she’s always under the Legendary Tree. Nozomi asks why Mina decided to become a teacher, and she replies she wants to fix something that happened in the past.

Hiroshi tells Yumi he has feelings for her, but expresses his belief that she doesn't feel the same. He asks if she’d be fine with showing affection as couples normally do, and, when he attempts to hug her, she pushes him away. He tells her he thought she was serious about love before leaving.

While jogging, Nozomi finds Yumi. The younger girl asks if Nozomi ever fell in love before, to which the green-head explains she can’t fall in love due to her focus on swimming and her plans for the future. She explains that love is about thinking of the other person as well and not focusing just on the fun things. Yumi finally starts understanding what others have been trying to tell her, and Nozomi tells her to apologize to Mina, but Yumi claims the teacher is the only person she cannot forgive.

Some Winter Evening[]

(いつか冬の夕暮れ, Itsuka Fuyu no Yuugure)

Back in her class, Yumi finds Mina on her seat. Hiroshi appears, but the teacher asks him to be left alone with Yumi. Mina explains that a girl who thought the same way as Yumi once sat there: she hurried to find love, but at the graduation ceremony, the boy didn’t show up under the Legendary Tree, and the girl realized she wasn’t really in love and didn’t think about his feelings. Mina apologizes and explains she didn’t want the same thing to happen to Yumi.

They are interrupted by Naoto and Yoshio hurrying to their class, after Hiroshi told them that Yumi and Mina were dueling. Yumi apologizes for troubling everyone.

Some time later, Yumi receives a love letter from a first-year student, but she explains she decided she will only go out with someone she’s seriously in love with. Before Mina leaves, Naoto and the others give her a muffler.

Mina listens to the Heartful Café in her car, and Yurica reads a letter Yumi sent to her: Yumi explains she started looking up to her, and wanted to apologize for upsetting her. She says she hasn’t had enough experiences to become an adult yet, but she wants to become someone like Mina. Yumi thanks her, and tells her to look at her once she becomes an adult.
